Pink makes everyone look pretty

I've got a stash of digi images that I've coloured (and in some cases even matted) but never used. So I'm making a concerted effort to make use of them rather than colour new. In some cases, such as this one, I can't imagine why I haven't used the image earlier.

This sweet little hedgehog from Phindy's Place is so adorable in all her finery that even the flies buzzing around her head seem to be lovely. I thought this image would be perfect for a little girl and so I made the card with an assortment of Basic Grey papers (from "Lemonade" set) that are just super feminine. I added a touch of glitter to the flies and a few coloured pearls in the bottom corner.

I'll be donating this card to Cards for Kids as either a "birthday" or "just because you're special" card. If you aren't familiar with Cards for Kids (and it is a brand-new initiative so you probably aren't), we are collecting hand-made greeting cards that can be given to hospitalized children who are unlucky enough to be in hospital over their birthday or other special day. I have to admit to a terrible jealousy because a co-worker is resigning in order to spend more time with her family. I wish I had the financial resources to stop working but I will likely be working into my 90's in order to support my scrapbooking habit. Anyway, I made this card to wish her well on her new road.

The image is "Speedster" and is part of Phindy's Place newest collection "Summer Cuties". Isn't she just adorable? I used my Copic markers to colour her and then added some Stickles to the flowers in her romper and to the ribbons on her handlebars. I also added Glossy Accents to sections of the bike in order to give it a bit more dimension. The card sketch is from Create 4 Fun - quite a simple and versatile sketch. Phindy's "Christmas in Spring" challenge

Just a quick post today and no, I haven't missed the fact that Spring is here (although it's kind of hard to believe considering the rain that's been falling). Today's card is in answer to a challenge from Phindy's Place - to make a Christmas card.

I had lots of fun pulling out the Christmas papers and looking through the winter images. I decided on this one of a boy sledding as he reminds me of my kids when they were sledding this past winter. I created the snowy hills by tearing and inking (with Copic BG0000) the edges of some sparkly paper recovered from last Christmas' crackers. I love how it looks like he's flying over the top of the snow!

Phindy's Place freebie and a new paper choice

Just a quick post to share a card I made with Phindy's newest freebie. The card is very simple, just two ribbons overlapped and a series of brads holding it in place. What I found most interesting about making this card is I used a new paper to print out the image. Usually I use Cornish Farms "Simply Smooth" but I decided to try an Epson paper called "Premium Prsentation Paper Matte". It gave a very different result - the paper absorbed the ink quite quickly which meant much more vivid colours. The blending seemed to go all right but I was quite surprised at how much darker the colours ended up.

Anyway, I'm entering this card into a few challenges as follows:

• Phindy's Place - use ribbon (I've used two ribbons - a solid yellow ribbon with a daisy ribbon overlaid)

Making better use of images

Just like most crafters, I love to acquire stamp images and other supplies but I don't always use what I have.  With that in mind, the latest challenge fromthe PCP group for Phindy's Place is quite a good one for me. Phindy has challenged us to use one image in two different ways (all the better to justify our purchases). I am still working on the second card using this image, but I wanted to post this first card today as it is based on a sketch for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge ending tomorrow.

A new great-nephew

Had a busy evening making a card to welcome the newest addition to the family - my husband's nephew and wife just had their second child (another boy). Can hardly wait to see pictures! In the meantime, I had to make a special card to welcome baby Cody.

Time to start on Christmas

It is mid-November so more than time to start on Christmas cards. My latest uses a digital stamp freebie from Phindy's Place and a colour challenge from PCP Color Challenge.

I started by colouring the angel with my copics. Then I used silver Stickles on the stars for ultimate shine. I cut the angel out and pop-dotted her on a plain yellow cardstock and then drew in the silver swirls with more Stickles. The sentiment is from Penny Black and it's simply stamped in black on a blue shadow background (made by stamping with the reverse side of the sentiment stamp). Final touch was the addition of crystal Stickles on the angel's wings.
